The German WWII self-propelled gun Howitzer Hummel (Late Production) is meticulously recreated in this TAMIYA model. Translating to "bumblebee," the Hummel was designed to provide mobile artillery support for German tank units. Based on the Geschutzwagen III/IV (also used for the Nashorn), it features an L/30 15cm howitzer and an open-top fighting compartment.
Debuting on the Eastern Front in 1943, the Hummel was also seen in North-West Europe and Italy during the latter half of WWII. This model requires paint and assembly, and it features completely new molded parts for the upper hull, fighting compartment, gun, and more. The lower hull and road wheels are from the Nashorn kit (Item 35335).
The late production tracks are depicted with assembly parts using one-piece straight sections, offering highly realistic depictions of the upper run "sag." Accessories, including rounds and cases, are included to recreate the authentic details.
Three brand-new figures are also part of the package, and the model comes with two marking options. This is an advanced-level kit, suitable for skilled modelers.
The attention to detail and historical accuracy make this TAMIYA model a must-have for enthusiasts of German WWII military vehicles. The Hummel's distinctive design and the model's intricate components ensure an engaging building experience and a visually stunning final product.
